CASE STUDY: Hockey World Championships 2026, Opening Ceremony
For the 2026 Hockey World Championships, the Dutch Mascot Agency was given the opportunity to develop and execute the official opening ceremony.
Our goal was to create an opening that felt dynamic, energetic and unmistakably connected to hockey; bringing together sport, music, dance and mascots to build excitement in the stadium and set the tone for the championships ahead.
The result was a high-energy opening performance in which four dance groups (40 dancers) and the tournament mascots came together on the pitch, building towards one collective moment. By combining choreography, live entertainment and character performance, we transformed the opening into an experience that engaged the entire stadium and created a memorable start to the World Cup.
From creative development and choreography to production and performance, DMA brought the different elements together into one cohesive show.
